Wallpaper for the Mind 2.0
This is a classic Mac application implementing "Wallpaper for the mind", a semi-chaotic pattern generator. Based on an algorithm published in the September 1986 Scientific American Mathematical Recreations column. The implementation allows you to vary the three variables (A, B, C) controlling the pattern, as well as scale and position of the results.
The original 68K version uses special assembly code to optimize the square root and point plotting routines.
A self-extracting archive of the application is also provided in .hqx format, and can be downloaded to local emulators or vintage hardware. This is a "fat binary" also supporting PowerPC processors, though I have not tested it on a PPC in nearly 30 years. The PPC version is not hand optimized, but does allow re-sizing the window.
Note the app needs to run on a bitmap (1 bit per pixel) display. It tries to automatically adjust the display, but will not run if the emulator or hardware does not support this display configuration.
